Projects
OAPEN is involved in various initiatives for open access books:
-
PALOMERA (January 2023 – December 2024) (Policy Alignment of Open Access Monographs in the European Research Area) - will investigate the reasons why, in contrary to article publishing in journals, academic books have not been a focus point for open access (OA) policymakers within the European Research Area (ERA). Consequently, books are only rarely mandated to be published OA by research funders and institutions. Based on collected evidence, PALOMERA will provide actionable recommendations and concrete resources to support and coordinate aligned funder and institutional policies for OA books. The project is 24 months and ends December 2024. It is funded through EC grant number 101094270. See the project page for more information.
-
OPERAS-PLUS (September 2022-August 2025) - aims at supporting the open scholarly communication process for the Social Sciences and the Humanities in the European Research Area (ERA) and the development of the infrastructure in its preparatory phase and on its way towards implementation as The European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC). OAPEN supports the network of national nodes and their national activities; and develop the services portfolio by providing both required technology and a monitoring system for services development. The project is 36 months and ends August 2025. It is funded through EC grant number 101079608.
-
OA Book Usage Analytics for Diverse Communities – A Demonstration Project (April 2022 – April 2025) - As one of the four partner organisations, OAPEN participates in the Book Analytics Dashboard (BAD) Project focused on creating a sustainable OA Book focused analytics service by providing dashboards of aggregated OA books usage across multiple platforms. The project is 36 months and ends April 2025. It is funded by Mellon Foundation.
-
SCELC & OAPEN Pilot Project (November 2020 – November 2023) - SCELC and OAPEN collaborate through this pilot project in an effort to amplify the usage of open access (OA) resources in SCELC member libraries.
